AVFAL's Partnership Agreement with Play for Life International (PFLI)

We have signed a Partnership agreement with Play for Life International (USA), a charitable Non Governmental Organisation that's has similar objectives as AVFAL.

Play for Life International uses sports as a tool for development in developing nations as well as in underprivileged areas in the U.S. PFLI believes in the transforming power of sport to uplift, connect, and build peace. Through their programs, they facilitate international athletic exchanges, run athletics clinics, fund, organize, and oversee field and playing surface construction, and coordinate equipment donation to target areas. Using the convening power of sport, they reinforce their commonalities across culture, gender, and borders while helping children in their programs build self-esteem, foster respect and tolerance, and grow a sense of community. Through these concerted efforts, they believe they cannot only change a moment, they can change the game.

Purpose

Sport is an underutilized method of bringing people together, empowering communities, and building peace. Sport helps children see their commonalities, builds self-confidence, and emphasizes the importance of teamwork. It teaches children how to lose as well as how to win. It builds self-confidence and aids in healthy development. By harnessing the power of sports, we hope to help children build stronger communities and better lives for themselves.

In the long term, they will identify culturally, economically appropriate ways to foster social entrepreneurship. This is a long-term goal because social entrepreneurship solutions will grow organically from our sustained presence in countries and cities. The solutions need to be tailored to the social, economic, and geopolitical realities in each of their program areas. Social entrepreneurship will be an important way in which they empower PFLI children to create their own fate and sustain themselves and their families in the long term. AVFAL's Partnership Agreement With CAN Fútbol Foundation (CANFF)

CANFF’s goal is to use the sport of soccer as a platform for social change. Their mission in this endeavour is to improve the lives of underprivileged people and to strengthen their communities by providing them with a positive environment that facilitates their development athletically, educationally, and nutritionally.

Everyone deserves the right to a better quality of life and should not be hindered by socio-economic status or by geographic location. As a former soccer player in the Honduran National Soccer Federation, Jason Old had seen the type of impact that the sport of soccer can have in a person’s life. The sport itself has the capacity to transcend socio-economic status and bring people together in a way that is conducive to promoting issues such as the importance of education, HIV/AIDS awareness, and public health.

In the globalized world in which we live, it is imperative that we concern ourselves with the preservation of life, global environmental issues, and education.  As leaders in this rapidly globalizing society, you set the benchmark for sustainable development.  By supporting humanitarian organizations, you epitomize the model of a well-rounded leader.

In short, if we consider our world’s youth the most precious resource, then it would be in our best interest to facilitate socio-cultural development for future generations of world leaders. www.canff.org
